Over the summer, we made the decision to sell our home of 30 years to relocate to NC. We wanted to take advantage of the strong market, and we agreed to a timeline to have our home ready for staging in a little over 4 weeks. This was an overwhelming task considering how much we had accumulated over those years!! The process felt daunting, not only because of the sheer volume of things that we needed to sort through in order to downsize for our next home, but because the decisions were emotionally draining and difficult for me to make. I had contacted a few other decluttering services, and did not feel comfortable with the approach offered to bring in a team for a day or so to haul out all of our belongings for a quick decision to sort, toss or donate. I knew I needed a gentler approach and to know that I was in control of the decisions as I went through the decluttering process.

I can honestly say that Andrea made what was a very stressful time feel like spending time with a friend because of her calming and humorous approach. She helped me make practical decisions about clothing that I would no longer need in retirement, all while remaining non-judgmental. Her humor and hard work helped me to make major headway sorting through clothing and other miscellaneous household items in a matter of days so that I could schedule several rounds of donations. Andrea even helped take some of our donations directly to other organizations she recommended, which made me feel great about where our donations were going!

Finally, Andrea helped us to sort and pack up our belongings to prepare for our move. Her excellent packing skills ensured that everything arrived to our new home safely!

“My husband and I are forever grateful that we had Andrea’s assistance and humor…

Not sure why I thought I could organize and pack our family house of 20 years- guess I was a little delusional! My husband and I had 6 weeks to prepare for our Open House when I realized I needed major help FAST! Our stager gave me Andrea’s name and number which I quickly called. Andrea was able to keep me focused on what needed to be done to be ready for the stager and the Open House. Since she’s had so much experience with other clients moving, she was an enormous help! After we made the house beautiful for a very successful Open House, then we worked on the BIG move. My husband and I were downsizing to a home half the size so we had a LOT to donate and trash. We had decided to do the packing ourselves instead of the professional movers doing it. Andrea was essential in packing my breakables including china, several mirrors and sentimental keepsakes. She was able to masterfully pack things snug and safe. Quite the skill! I’m happy to report everything has arrived in one piece!

Andrea was awesome- always armed with her basket of supplies including tape guns, labels, sharpies, paper and tons of boxes, not the mention her ENORMOUS van! She dropped off donations to the Immaculata Garage Sale and helped move plants and breakables to our new home during a major surprise thunderstorm. Then the wonderful Andrea assisted me in cleaning and organizing my new kitchen. All this while keeping me sane and smiling! Even after we moved, Andrea came to pick up our used boxes for her other clients to use- talk abut paying it forward! We had used some of her previous clients’ boxes because no matter how well you plan, you never have enough boxes!

My husband and I are forever grateful that we had Andrea’s assistance and humor with this life altering move- everything worked out wonderfully! I know I couldn’t have moved and kept my sanity without her expert help.

What can I say? Selling my Dad’s house in NJ while I lived in VA was challenging. You were always at the house getting things done, and you performed tasks that I considered beyond our expectations. Dad’s house was overflowing with 40 years plus of furniture, knick knacks, artwork, kitchenware, etc. You found homes for everything where we had no luck. “She bought the right baskets, and plastic containers and managed to organize my kitchen cabinets.”

We recently moved from a 2,700 square foot home to a 1,800 square foot apartment. Before we moved we gave away A LOT and we had an estate sale. Still, we had way too much.

My biggest challenge was the pantry- we had one and then we didn’t!! I wasn’t sure how to set up the kitchen cabinets to maximize the space. I was at a loss as to where to put my dishes, glassware and platters for entertaining. I also had trouble finding space for my canned goods, spices, and crackers.

Thank goodness for Andrea!! I’m sure my blood pressure dropped back down to normal when she showed up.

Andrea has an eye for organization. She bought the right baskets, and plastic containers and managed to organize my kitchen cabinets. She was a delight to work with and brought such calm to me and my environment!

When she finished our kitchen, she hung shelves in my husband’s office. Perfection!!

Andrea has been a godsend in helping us organize and downsize, as we moved from our home in NJ to our new home in PA. We lived in the NJ house for 23 years and have been married for 42, so you can imagine all that we accumulated over the years. It was a daunting task to say the least, but Andrea made it fun! 
 
We started working together several months before the move. We did a big clean out of the garage, 2 sheds, lawn and pool equipment, the patio, basement and every room and closet in the house. She also helped with selling items on Facebook Marketplace. 
 
It was a stressful time as my husband was hospitalized several times before, during and after the move. I was also working full time and could not have managed all of it without Andrea. Her upbeat and let’s get it done approach accomplished what was near impossible at first. We worked together on weekdays and weekends and tackled it all in phases. The first phase was prepping for the big move, the second phase was further refining for the staging and Open House. The third phase was the big move day prep and the last stage was unpacking over 224 boxes in our new home! 
 
Andrea was absolutely amazing! Not only did she help me organize what we were keeping, donating and tossing, she hauled away  all of the items for donation and trash in her “Super Van”, and there were many. All of the days flew by as we worked together, with lots of laughs and positive energy. Then during one of our sessions in the new home, there was an unexpected dog fight. Andrea came to the rescue and helped me pull the 2 dogs apart, preventing more serious injuries to the dogs and me!  She’s a warrior woman on all counts….
 
I highly recommend Andrea for any project large or small. Her rates are very reasonable, she is extremely flexible, dependable and a pleasure to work with. Andrea had previously helped my parents with a large packing job, so we knew she was the perfect person to ask to help us with packing up our house when we were unsure how we’d fit it in and get it all done. First she helped us prep our house for staging by cleaning up and organizing our excess junk into boxes and bins that could be easily hidden away. After the house was under contract, she helped us pack up our house. She packed up 90% of our house in about half of the expected time, and not only that, everything was done in a way more organized, efficient, and secure manner than we could have ever done on our own. I only wish she could have been with us for the unpacking and for all future moves, because we were stunned and incredibly grateful for all of her organizational skills. “… but I not once was embarrassed or ashamed of my stuff.”

I remember how afraid I was before I even started. I kept avoiding making my first appointment with Andrea because I didn’t want to face what I had to do. We were moving soon and had to empty our house. My daughter said to me “mom you have to call and set up a date.” It still took me another week or so to call. So I finally called and made my first appointment and that night I laid in bed all night so worried of where we should start. I barely slept. 

That first day came and I remember I didn’t know what to do. My mind was all over the place. My house was full of 25 years of A LOT of stuff. Stuff that I saved from my grown childrens’ toys and school stuff to all my collections of EVERYTHING!!!! There were things that I completely forgot about. I had a two car garage, an attic, and a large single house full basement all completely filled. And every closet in the house was filled top to bottom. I am also a very good packer so they were pretty stuffed. So I not only was afraid to do this but I was also extremely embarrassed. I knew I had to get over my fears and begin. Well, to my surprise, from the very first second Andrea came into my house, everything changed. 

Of course I was still nervous and afraid but I not once was embarrassed or ashamed of my stuff. I remember telling Andrea stories about a lot of my things and she truly listened and was interested in everything I told her. After days of doing this and things were slowly emptying I was feeling like things were melting away from my head and body. I was feeling so proud of myself for letting go and telling my stories about my stuff felt like I was in therapy. Don’t get me wrong, it was very emotional still, but I felt like these were steps to go through before the breakthrough.

Andrea’s personality had ALL to do with it. She was so patient, caring, and the way she spoke with you made me feel so good that it really motivated me to continue. If I was unsure or felt sad about an item she would ask me to take a picture of it and to decide later. I thought that was great. Andrea would whip out her table, have you sit there, and go through a box and when you were finished she would get the next one for you. She wasn’t afraid to get stuff from a lot of cobwebs and other stuff that sat in my garage for years, high up on shelves. She would make piles for donate/trash/keep, and take care of all of them to where they would go. By the end of our very big adventure of decluttering and packing I really felt like she was my personal therapist because I felt so good about myself for doing all of this. If I ever had to do this again, Andrea would be the one I would call. I would also highly recommend to all friends and family.

We’ve been totally intimidated by our basement since we moved in five years ago and promptly had a flood, before we even had a chance to organize the mess the movers made.  It was 2000 square feet of chaos.

We started working with Andrea of Divide and Conquer Clutter, who had already helped us organize our garage. At her advice we took the project in little chunks—one Saturday a month. Instead of dreading these clean out Saturdays , we started to look forward to them because of Andrea’s positive attitude. She never pushed us too hard to throw things away since our goal was to organize, not  purge, but we found it easier to let go of things when Andrea asked in a totally nonjudgmental way, “Keep, or toss?”

We are 2/3 done with the project and now look forward to a visit with Andrea rather than dreading a day in the basement. Every time we finish a day we have a sense of accomplishment and peace, and another section is organized and tidy.  Setting up and breaking down the Christmas decor was a dream this year because everything had a place and was well labeled.

Staring at 21 years of “stuff” in my basement and a pending move, I was paralyzed with where to start. Knowing I didn’t have an organized mind :), my realtor suggested I reach out to Andrea at Divide and Conquer Clutter. What I loved is she didn’t judge my mismatched gloves or daughter’s middle school project sitting in my basement or the fact everything was all over the place.

Andrea has a calm, soothing and peaceful demeanor

When I was under pressure to get my house ready for listing in a short period of time, I panicked!  There was 15 years of accumulated stuff in addition to the stuff I’d brought back with me when I returned to NJ after living in CA, some of which had never even been unpacked!  I didn’t know where to start and I was overwhelmed.  The home stager had recommended Andrea Sutter to help me develop a plan for packing up things to keep and getting rid of things that would no longer serve me.  This was particularly important because I was downsizing and HAD to get rid of stuff.  Andrea has a calm, soothing and peaceful demeanor.  At the same time she is a no-nonsense, pull-up-her-shirtsleeves worker that points you in the right direction, and, (but only when necessary), makes decisions for you (especially when there are emotions involved and you can’t bring yourself to make them).  She comes equipped with organizational experience and operational know-how regarding proper packing, placement and tracking of items to be shipped.

She was very flexible with her availability and the emotional support she provided during a stressful time was invaluable.  My 19-year-old son was always happy when he would find out that Andrea was coming to help on a particular day – he thought she was amazing and we would make so much progress.   I totally recommend her for any job that involves moving, cleaning out closets, getting rid of clutter and any situation where you desire organization but need an objective and experienced person to guide you through the process.
